Thumper Review

Initially, this project arose as an experiment for set-top boxes. And in a short time the game received a lot of positive feedback among gamers, but did not become the most popular. But with a high degree of probability this is due to the fact that at that time there were a lot of other interesting and more expected games.

Thumper is a game that is accompanied by a dark soundtrack, and the player is immersed in an abstract world with creepy images and heavy rhythms. The player must control a large beetle that glides along the silver road and moves forward. During the movement, we can say that reality is simply broken, and the matter is distorted.

Game process

The bottom line is to timely hit the notes that are located along the road on the floor or walls. In some cases, you need to use the left analogue, thereby spreading your wings and flying up. This allows not only to overcome various obstacles on the way, but also to receive additional bonuses.

Here you can even carefully enter the drift near the walls, but you need to be careful, because you can break the shell. At energy obstacles, it is best to accelerate, otherwise the beetle may break.

It is important not to skip notes and accumulate a rating, and this will allow you to restore the shell, thereby protecting yourself from an upcoming collision. And near the special gates, the player gets the opportunity to return the armor.

Gameplay Thumper

Each level has 30 save points, so even with large locations, it provides a calm game without irritation. Also, there are notes in the game that can be skipped without consequences, and this simply does not give a certain amount of extra points in the rating.

It is important to understand that with the passage of the levels become more and more difficult, and you need to hit the notes without errors. And the emerging bosses do not let you get bored. For example, one may appear at the very beginning of the level, while the other is already at the end. And everywhere the player is waiting for various tests. When passing, the beetle also accumulates energy, and if you create combinations without errors, then it becomes more and more. And this energy, when released, simply destroys all the evil that is around. And it all looks incredibly beautiful, there are no questions about visual effects.

Also, any episode ends with a battle with the devil, and here the difficulty of passing only increases. However, the mechanics remain the same.

Everything works beautifully and stably, and the important thing is that Thumper is not even suitable for the most demanding devices.
